I am aching to take a trip.

And I don't have any specific requirements. I just want to GO, somewhere, anywhere....

I'm thinking warm and cheap. Warm because I'm ready to feel the sun on my skin and cheap because my bank balance needs me to be gentle. Buying a house will do that to you.

My BIG 3-0 birthday is coming this spring (May 7th for those who need reminding) and I want to "treat" myself to something fun and memorable.

Any Suggestions? Any at all? Let me know.

I want to see something cool, go somewhere new, eat great food, interact with fun people, dance until my feet hurt, make some memories, and laugh.

A Home of My Own*

I've done it. I've bought a house, after talking about it for FIVE years. I did it.

I'm an extrovert - yes, I can talk to people easily - BUT that's not what that means, being an extrovert means I process my thoughts outloud, usually to others. Therefor, when I'm considering something, I have to talk about it (ALOT) before I'm able to do it. Rarely are people surprised by my actions. Mainly because I've been talking about it too much.

But enough about me. Here's my house. I close on the 12th so it's not officially mine yet but we're pretty darn close. So I'm getting really excited. The past couple of weeks, I've been really nervous but now, I'm excited and picking out paint colors.

It's a great old house with hardwood floors, crown moldings, and chair rails. It also has a 1970's laminate floor kitchen, an unfinished attic, and a back door that won't latch without a lock. And I love it.

This isn't all my pictures and I obviously have some work to do but I'm excited and I'm sure my posts will start to have a DIY home improvement vibe to them. But I promise, no Toolman Taylors around here.

C'est la vie

Just to update those who sent me good wishes about last weekend with the DLS.

We talked, we discussed, we defined, we argued semantics - neither of us could change our position so we're friends, we've talked some more this week and while we both think some things are good between us, not everything is. And even me, who loves to beat a dead horse, doesn't want to talk about it anymore. We've had this ongoing conversation about what we were to one another for the past 6 weeks, give or take. And he's tired and I'm tired. So we're friends.

And I actually think we'll be friends. Call me naive but the best thing about our relationship was our friendship and the conversations we had.

(Don't get me wrong, other "stuff" was good too. This was just the best).

I do appreciate the concern that was shown to me and the emails of support, I have some of the best friends in the world. Whenever one of us is down, the rest of us rally around to bolster them and it's because of that that makes it all ok.

But life goes on and I will too.

Letting Go

I did not have a good weekend.

Have you ever had a moment in life that you aren't certain how it happened? You look at the start of the conversation and the end of the conversation and you can't figure out how you got from one end to the other?

That was my weekend with the DLS...
Going into the weekend, I was excited to spend it with him. No big plans, no expectations but he left this morning for a long term project in Maryland so we knew we wouldn't see each other for a while. Therefor, the weekend was supposed to be fun and relaxing. No pressure, no conversations, and no expectations.

Wow, were we waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

Major conversations, two ugly fights and I ended up coming home on Saturday night. He texted me last night and we're going to talk some more tonight but I hate to think this might be the last time we're together, that our fun ended so badly and that we weren't able to enjoy being together and saying goodbye gracefully.

Have a Heart...

I'm actually not a big fan of this holiday. But you can't deny that it's going on so what do you do? I've got the DLS a card and that's going to have to do. We don't have any crazy plans - I'm not certain we'll do anything at all.
I do admire one restuarant that you normally wouldn't turn to for a romantic dinner cashing in on all the hype. I admire out of the box thinking!
Valentine's at Waffle House? ( Now, this may be a valentine's tradition that I can get behind.
Whatever you do, whomever you're with, enjoy the day. And name this song, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with!"

Love Quote of the Day

"It's so easy,
To think about Love,
To Talk about Love,
To wish for Love,
But it's not always easy,
To recognize Love,
Even when we hold it.... In our hands."

Love Quote of the Day

"She walks in Beauty,
like the night
Of cloudness climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes..."

Love Quote of the Day

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is.

Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.

Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
